Barlow Beef @ Wike Brothers' Farm. Wike Brothers' Farm is located in Sharon in scenic northwestern Connecticut. Hank and Donna Hoskins Barlow offer premium grass fed all natural beef, pasture-raised eggs, and pork products from Tamowrth, Glouster Old Spot Cross pigs.
Our Hereford and Piedmontese cows are bred to our own Piedmontese bull. Calves are born on the farm and raised to 24 months, eating nothing but grass and minerals and drinking mountain spring water. We make our own hay for winter feeding. No antibiotics, hormones or commercial feeds are used. Beef is hung for 2–3 weeks to dry age.
Piedmontese cattle are "double-muscled" and mature fast, producing extremely lean meat with very high tenderness ratings. A 3.5 oz serving of full blood Piedmontese contains 36 mg of cholesterol, 95 calories and 21.2 g of protein, where the same size serving of traditional beef will have 68 mg cholesterol, 245 calories and 18.5 g of protein.
