Old Cotton Hill Farms practices sustainable agriculture while raising pastured pork and pastured poultry. Our farm is 32 acres with a mixture of pasture and woodland creating a wonderful environment for the animals. We supplement our animals with certified organic, no-corn/soy feed from Reedy Fork Organic Farms in Elon, North Carolina. Our property is managed by animals and manual labor without the use of chemical herbicides or pesticides as we focus on the health of the animals, environment, and consumers.
We raise Red Wattle Hogs, a heritage breed known for their ability to thrive in a pastured and woodland setting. They are praised for the marbling quality of their meat. Red Wattle Hogs nearly went extinct with the creation of confinement operations associated with conventional agriculture practices due to their inability to thrive or even survive in such an environment. Our hogs are raised with access to pasture and woodland as we believe this creates an environment for happy and healthy hogs resulting in high quality and healthy pork.
Our chickens are Freedom Rangers known for their ability to forage in a pastured setting. Our chickens are raised in a brooder coop for 1–2 weeks before being placed on pasture where they live out the remainder of their lives under blue skies and sunshine, scratching and pecking in green pastures filled with all sorts of goodies.
We take pride in our operation and the extreme measures we take to ensure happy, healthy lives for our animals, increased environmental health, and a top quality product for our customers.
